FROM TENGKU NOOR SHAMSIAH TENGKU ABDULLAH

TOKYO, March 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysian company Local Basic Sdn Bhd is
seeking to spread its wings overseas, in particular Japan, its managing director
Jason S.H. Teoh said.

From humble beginnings 13 years ago with five staff, the company, a conract
manufacturer, now has a workforce of 350.

Teoh said the company specialised in the manufacturing of precision parts
for automobiles, computers, electrical, audio, telecommunications equipment and
furniture as per customer design and specifications.

"We have strong technical know-how and advanced machinery in our
production lines. We also provide everything needed for metal manufacturing
parts under-one-roof," he told Bernama here.

Local basic is among the 11 Malaysian parts manufacturers invited to
participate in the 8th International Auto Aftermarket Expo 2009
(IAAE) beginning here Thursday and organised by the Japan External Trade
Organisation (Jetro).

Jetro, in collaboration with the Malaysian External Trade Corporation
(Matrade), is assisting Malaysian parts manufacturers at the exhibition by
giving them an opporunity to forge partnerships with Japanese firms.

According to Teoh, the exhibition is also a platform for Local Basic to gain
exposure in the international arena.

At present, he said, Local Basic was one of the suppliers for Japanese
electronics firm Hitachi, in the domestic market.

On the IAAE business matching session, he said that there would a meeting
with a few Japanese companies and one of them is a major industry player.

IAAE 2009, being held at the Tokyo International Exhibition Centre, will
gather experts and representatives from car-related businesses in Japan and
around the world to update each other and share views on business trends. --
