FORUM ON EURASIA ECONOMIC SECURITY KICKS OFF IN ASTANA


Baku, 12 March (AzerTAc). The Second Astana Economic Forum dealing with Eurasian
economic security and global risks and other themes related to the world economic
crisis kicked off in the capital of Kazakhstan on March 11. Organized by the
Eurasian Economic Club of Scientists (EECS), Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning
of Kazakhstan and the Institute of Economic Research, the Forum brought together
Noble Prize Laureates Robert Mandell and Edmund Phelps, President of the Islamic
Development Bank Ahmad Mahammad Ali, Deputy Secretary General of UN Yan Kubish and
over than 40 outstanding political scientists and business leaders. Chairman of the
Economic and Social Development Center Vugar Bayramov led the Azerbaijani
delegation. The Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev opened the forum.
Discussions revolved around following subjects: Economic safety in Eurasia in the
system of global risks, World economic crisis and its impact on economic safety of
countries, Islamic economic development under the globalization trends and Regional
economic cooperation.
