AZERBAIJAN PARLIAMENT TO ADOPT PARDON ACT
Baku, March 12 (AzerTAc). Milli Majlis will adopt a decision on a pardon act on the eve of Nowruz holiday.
The Milli Majlis standing commission on legal policy and
state building discussed on March 11 the draft decision on “Proclamation of Pardon
on the occasion of Nowruz holiday” prepared by MP, President of the Heydar Aliyev
Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva.
Chairman of the Commission Ali Huseynov noted the draft is perfect from the
legislative point of view. Unlike previous ones, the scope of this pardon act is
wider. The act will include about 9 thousand people of whom 1700 will be released.
Milli Majlis will discuss the draft decision on pardon act at its session on March 17.
In May 2007, the parliament adopted the draft decision on Pardon Act presented by
Mehriban Aliyeva. That act covered over 9 thousand people.
