WEBCAMS TO BE INSTALLED AT 500 POLLING STATIONS ON REFERENDUM DAY

Baku, 13 March (AzerTAc) Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panakhov, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov and some other officials visited Technical Control Center on Thursday to inspect the process of installing webcams at polling stations as part of preparation for the March 18 nationwide referendum in Azerbaijan.
Panakhov said that CEC considered it necessary to take extra measures to ensure transparency of the voting process. The webcams to be installed at 500 polling stations will allow the public to watch the whole process from voters` putting ballots into boxes to the processing of the ballots by members of the precinct election commissions. According to him, the work is 95% finished, and will be entirely completed in a few days.
On the day of the referendum, the voting process (except within a polling-booth) can be watched from beginning to end on the website of the Central Election Commission.
