AZERBAIJAN SUSPENDS PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL TOURISM EXHIBITION IN BERLIN

Embassy of Azerbaijan disseminated a statement on its reasons
Berlin, 14 March (AzerTAc). Embassy of Azerbaijan to Germany disseminated a statement on suspension of Azerbaijan`s participation in the International Tourism Exhibition (ITB) in Berlin.
The Statement runs: “Embassy of Azerbaijan to Germany found out that a society named “Friends of Artsakh” functioning in Berlin has applied to participate in the international exhibition and was registered. The Embassy, taking into account that participation of the said society could favor to propaganda of the so-called “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” and is harmful to territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, negotiated and had some contacts in this regard with the organizers of Exhibition. As a result, the exhibition organizers have given to the Azerbaijani side a written promise that in case of Society`s violence of regulations of the international action they would take certain measures to take its stand away.”
The Statement underlines that after the Exhibition opened, the Embassy found out that the said Society is engaged in anti-Azerbaijan activity and represented by a stand named “Mountainous Karabakh”. The Embassy demanded from the organizers to remove the stand. The Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations functioning in Germany, including the Germany-Azerbaijan Forum have protested against this illegal activity and re-sent appropriate appeals to the exhibition organizers.
Though some propaganda actions of the Armenians were prevented, the Exhibition Organizers had neither adequately fulfilled the Embassy`s demand nor removed the stand. Taking into account this, the Embassy has contacted with relevant state structures of Azerbaijan and thus, Azerbaijan`s participation was considered inadmissible in the Exhibition. Finally, Azerbaijan has left the Exhibition.
The Statement further runs: “Azerbaijani ambassdaor in Germany P. Shahbazov released a statement for the German public and media over exhibition organizers` failing to stop “Friends of Artsakh” society`s illegal activity aimed against the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”
The Embassy, simultaneously, has sent appropriate appeals to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Germany and other state structures.
