PADANG GOVT ALLOCATES 366 MILLION RUPIAH FOR CONTRACEPTIVES
Padang, Indonesia, March 14 (ANTARA)- Padang municipal government has allocated 366.68 million rupiah for contraceptives procurement in effort to support the family planning program in the city.
The funds for the family planning program had been allocated in the city's 2009 budget, while the contraceptives procurement would be conducted by the regional family planning coordinating agency and the local women empowerment body, Padang mayor Fauzi Bahar said when explaining his note of the city 2009 budget here on Saturday.
Apart from the contraceptives procurement program, Padang administration had also provided some 2.19 billion in fund to carrying out a number of activities dealing with family planning in the West Sumatra provincial capital, he said.
According to him, such funds would be used for several activities, among other things the family planning services and integrated medical services for infants.
The mayor said further that the funds were also used for the family planning field workers counseling, and the integrated communication, information and education (KIE) movement.
Padang now has population of about 800 thousand people, the mayor said. ***
