PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV INAUGURATES DEFENSE INDUSTRY MINISTRY`S COMPUTER PLANT

Baku, March 16 (AzerTAc). President Ilham Aliyev has today attended opening of the Defense Industry Ministry`s computer plant after reconstruction
Minister of Defense Ministry Yavar Jamalov welcomed the Head of State here.
President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing opening of the plant and saw a film featuring the plant before reconstruction.
President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the work done in the plant. The plant was founded at the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev, in accordance with USSR Council of Ministers` decree in 1972. After collapse of the Soviet Union, production here was discontinued and equipment became obsolete.
After the plant became subordinate to the Defense Ministry, it was totally reconstructed with state-of-the art equipment installed here. Currently, the plant employs 200 workers. The plant successfully showcases its products in international exhibitions.
The Head of State got familiar with the Heydar Aliyev Museum established in the plant. He saw the exhibition featuring the products including small arms and hardware. President Ilham Aliyev was given a keepsake.
President viewed devices assembly area and became familiar with the work of the electronic tachograph.
CEO of South Africa`s Paramount Group Ivor Ichikowitz updated the Head of State about the Matador, High Mine protected armoured vehicle capable of carrying a crew of 2 + 12. Parts of the vehicle are brought from South Africa. Production of this state-of-the art vehicle has been started for the first time in Baku. It is possible to export matadors in the future.
President Ilham Aliyev saw video featuring capabilities of fighting vehicles.
Mr. Ichikowitz presented a Matador model to Azerbaijani leader.
President Ilham Aliyev toured thermal production, device-making shops and test lab.
