REFERENDUM TO BE OBSERVED BY 47,066 LOCAL AND 172 FOREIGN MONITORS, CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION
Baku, March 17 (AzerTAc). Some 47,066 local and 172 foreign monitors will observe the March 18 referendum in Azerbaijan, the country`s Central Election Commission, CEC, said.
According to CEC, the major part of the total number of local observes - 44,918 people - were accredited by the polling stations, while 2,148 monitors by the commission itself. All 172 foreign monitors were accredited by CEC.
The voting will take place in 5,367 polling stations, of them 35 abroad, in 125 constituencies across the country, the commission said, adding the total number of people registered to vote is 4,897,966.
The constituencies are equipped by 30,000 voting booths, 5,000 ballot boxes and 28 informational posters.
The referendum will be covered by a total of 20 journalists from 10 foreign media outlets, including Reuters, Ihlas Haber Agency, Anadolu Agency, Al Jazeera, TRT, Le Figaro, EPA Agency, Bloomberg and BBC.
