UNESCO CHIEF KOICHIRO MATSUURA GIVES INTERVIEW TO AZERBAIJAN TV
Baku, March 21 (AzerTAc). Director-General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura has given an interview to the Azerbaijani Television.
The UNESCO chief said he had visited Azerbaijan several times, adding every time he witnessed new signs of rapid development and modernization.
Mr. Matsuura said Azerbaijan`s rapid economic development has a very positive impact on the country`s infrastructure.
He also expressed satisfaction with the Azerbaijan-UNESCO cooperation, praising President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva`s contributions in this regard.
Koichiro Matsuura said Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev pays great attention to safeguarding and popularizing the cultural heritage and developing education.
The UNESCO chief said he was pleased to attend the opening of the Modern Art Museum in Baku.
Koichiro Matsuura stressed the importance of “The World of Mugham” international festival, initiated by President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, saying such events contribute to protecting and promoting the cultural heritage in Azerbaijan.
