INTERNATIONAL MUGHAM COMPETITION STARTS IN BAKU
Baku, March 22 (AzerTAc). The international mugham competition has been opened here today at the Azerbaijan State Puppet Theater.
International scholastic symposium, international mugham competition and a series of concerts were organized as part of the festival in Azerbaijan. The events were attended by some 100 visitors, 30 scholars exploring traditional oriental music. The symposium gave a kick-start to development of cultural ties between the peoples.
The participants were informed about huge projects funded and implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to protect cultural heritage of the people of Azerbaijan.
The competition brought together 20 participants from Iran, Syria, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Turkey and Germany.
The grand prix winner will receive €20,000 in prize money while the winners taking 1-3 places will get €15,000, €10,000, and €5,000 respectively.
Education Minister told of the nature of this event. He stressed the importance of competition initiated by President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, ISESCO and UNESCO goodwill ambassador, MP, Mehriban Aliyeva.
