Iran ex-envoy blames Mossad, CIA for Western media attacks on Iran
Tehran, Jan 31, IRNA – The attacks of Western media on Iran are rooted in misleading information of the US Central Intelligence Service (CIA) and intelligence agency of the Zionist regime (Mossad), Iran's former ambassador to Switzerland Ali-Reza Salari told the German Russia Today.
'This is while there is no proof for the accusations [made by the Western media] and all of what has been attributed to Iran in the past 40 years is baseless,' said Salari in an interview with German language Russia Today about the tangible change of Western media's approach toward Iran.
Salari said that US and 'its puppet', i.e. the Zionist regime and Saudi Arabia, are trying to push the Europeans away from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and lead the deal to failure.
'The rest of the story is quite clear: maximizing Iranophobia and fanning the flames of discords to achieve the goals.'
In January 2015, Iran and the five permanent members of UN Security Council signed an agreement, namely the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), to lift sanctions on Iran.
The deal lightened the media atmosphere of the Europeans about Iran; European media, including German ones, tried to avoid using critical tone against Tehran.
But, on May 8, the US President Donald Trump unilaterally quit the JCPOA, aka Iran Deal, which was the fruit of years of negotiation with big powers of the world.
Trump illegally restores all the US sanctions on Iran, while all the other signatories of the deal, namely China, Russia, France, and the UK, showed unhappiness with the decision.
After the US withdrawal from Iran Deal and some European countries' making accusations against the country, the media approach in Germany became more impudent.
Russia Today wrote that, simultaneous with the US economic and political pressure on Iran, the anti-Iran approach of some German media has become stronger.
