Al-Moallem discusses with Iranian officials means of consolidating bilateral relations
Tehran, SANA – A session of official talks was held on Tuesday between Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at Iranian Foreign Ministry HQ in Tehran where the two sides reviewed in details the situation of the bilateral relations and means of upgrading them in different domains.
The viewpoints were consistent on the importance of following up the results of the successful visit of Iran’s first Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri to Damascus last week where the long-term strategic cooperation agreement was signed besides eleven agreements and MoUs of different spheres.
The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Syria and the region and particularly the underway preparations for holding a trilateral summit for Astana process guarantors, which is to be held in Russia soon.
The Foreign and Expatriates Minister pointed out to the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, expressing Syria’s appreciation for the great support provided by Iran to Syria in its battle against terrorism.
He stressed the importance of consolidating cooperation between the two countries in confronting the unjust coercive economic measures imposed on them by the USA and its allies, which serve only Israel.
For his part, Zarif congratulated the Syrian people on victories in the war against terrorism, stressing Iran’s continued support to Syria against terrorism.
Al-Moallem also met Chairman of the Iranian Shura Council Ali Larijani and discussed with him the strategic relations between the two countries and the importance of strengthening them in various fields, including the parliamentary field as well as exchanging views on various issues in Syria and the region.
He pointed out to the great achievements of Syria in the battlefield in cooperation with its allies, stressing that these are in common victories and that Syria and Iran will foil the conspiracy, whose enemies are trying to impose on them in different means.
For his part, Larijani pointed out that Syria’s victories against terrorism have been achieved thanks to the wise leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and the resilience of the Syrian Army.
Al-Moallem also met with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani where he pointed out to the importance of boosting relations between the two countries and intensifying consultations between them in the face of the fierce conspiracy launched with the aim of targeting the whole region, on top of which the Palestinian Issue.
For his part, Shamkhani lauded the brotherly relations between the two countries, expressing hope that the economic relations would be upgraded to the level of the standing political coordination.
