SULTAN RECEIVES LIBYAN MINISTER

Yogyakarta, Indonesia, March 25 (ANTARA) - Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X received Libya's Social Affairs Minister Ibrahim A.M. Al Sharif in his gubernatorial office here on Wednesday.

Minister Ibrahim Al Sharif held a meeting with the Yogyakarta Governor after attending an Indonesia-Libya Joint Commission Meeting which was held in Yogyakarta on Tuesday (March 24), where a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation was signed by Indonesia and Libya.

Al Sharif conveyed the Libyan president's regard to Sultan Hamengku Buwono and congratulated the Indonesian people for the upcoming general elections.

"Hopefully the General Elections in Indonesia will be able to elect legitimate and trusted leaders," he said.

Sultan Hamengku Buwono on the occasion expressed his hope that the Joint Commission between Indonesia and Libya would help intensify the bilateral ties between the two Muslim populous nations especially in facing the global challenges.

"Welcome to Yogyakarta. By having this Joint Commission Meeting, we hope that we could strengthen cooperation between the two Muslim states," the Sultan said.

In the meeting with the governor, Libya's 16-member delegation was accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to Libya Sanusi and Ramli Saud of the Indonesian manpower ministry. ***
