McCanns launch new search for Madeleine

The parents of missing British toddler Madeleine McCann are launching a fresh appeal
for information on her disappearance in Portugal nearly two years ago.
Kate and Gerry McCann are planning to distribute 10,000 leaflets to homes and
businesses surrounding the Algarve holiday resort of Praia da Luz, from where
Madeleine vanished in 2007.
Advertisements on billboards and local buses will also appeal to locals who might
have information about the whereabouts of Madeleine to come forward.
"At the time of Madeleine's disappearance the emphasis was placed more on
international appeals, and it has been recognised that the local Portuguese
residents of Praia da Luz and the surrounding areas have never been properly asked
about information they may have to give," a statement from the official Find
Madeleine Fund said.
"Someone in the area could almost certainly have the vital information that could
help Madeleine's return to her family, or a combination of people all coming forward
with a single piece of information could piece together vital clues which could
solve the disappearance.
"Experience also shows that people almost always confide in someone else."
Madeleine was three years old when she disappeared from her family's holiday villa
while her parents dined at a nearby restaurant on May 3, 2007.
Despite a massive international search and global media coverage of her
disappearance, Madeleine has never been found.
