INTERNATIONAL MUGHAM FESTIVAL CLOSES WITH CONCERT AT HEYDAR ALIYEV PALACE
Baku, March 25 (AzerTAc). “The World of Mugham” international festival has closed today with a great concert at the Heydar Aliyev Palace. For a week hundreds of peoples from different corners of the world made Azerbaijan`s capital their home to enjoy mugham which is rightly considered a masterpiece of the world culture.
Held on the initiative of Azerbaijan`s first lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, the festival brought together mugham singers from 40 countries.
The closing concert was opened by the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra after Uzeyir Hajibeyli which performed Shur symphonic mugham. The concert also featured the performance of Shur tasnif by People`s Artist Alim Gasymov and Honored Artist Fargana Movlamova.
The opening ceremony of the festival was held at the International Mugham Center on March 20, with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura in attendance.
