Swimming: Kitajima to miss national, world c`ships

TOKYO, March 27 Kyodo -
Kosuke Kitajima, who won a breaststroke double at the last two Olympics, will
miss the upcoming national and world championships, swimming sources said
Friday.
The 26-year-old Kitajima will sit out the nationals from April 16, which double
as a selection event for the world championships in Rome this summer. He also
plans to miss a Japan-Australia meet being held in Australia in May.
Kitajima has not actively trained since returning from the Beijing Olympics
last summer.
He has denied any rumors of retirement but is apparently seeking a new
motivation to his career, including possibly switching his training base to the
United States.
