YO-YO MA ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM “LEYLI AND MAJNUN” OPERA IN NORTHERN AMERICA
Baku, March 30 (AzerTAc). The acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma will be performing “Leyli and Majnun” Opera in the Northern America to mark his Silk Road project’s 10th anniversary. Azerbaijani famous mugham singer Alim Gasimov and his daughter Fargana will be along the performers of the opera.
The event aims to popularize folk music of peoples living along the Silk Road and assist to strengthen musical relations between the West and East.
The troupe is scheduled to make a musical journey to 6 cities of the Northern America.
The troupe includes 60 famous musicians, composers and artists from more than 20 countries.
It is about 10 years the Silk Road Ensemble performs in 25 countries of the worldwide.
