POLICE ASKED TO INVESTIGATE RI STUDENT`S DEATH IN SINGAPORE

Jakarta, March 30 (ANTARA) - The National Police Headquarters has been urged to investigate the death of an Indonesian student, David Hartanto, at Nangyang Technological University in Singapore recently.

Hartanto Wijaya, the father of David, made the statement at the National Police's Ciriminal and Investigation Unit in South Jakarta on Monday.

He came to the National Police Headquarters to urge the police to investigate the mystery behind the death of his son in Singapore.

David was found dead on March 3, 2009 after being falling from the third floor of the university campus.

The Singaporean side said David died after committing suicide, but Hartanto Wijaya did not believe the cause of his son's death.

"I want the Police and the government to help investigate into the case of my son in Singapore because his death was anomalous peculiar," he said.

He added that the peculiarities on his son's death was that David was reported to have stubbed his teacher, the it was his son who died in the incident instead.

He also questioned that the wound on his son's neck when he died was covered with a plaster.

"If David committed suicide by jumping down from the university campus, his body would have broken into pieces but in fact he only sustained bruises," Hartanto Wijaya said.

He also questioned the result of autopsy which had yet to be issued until the present while it should have been ready in one or two days.

Hartanto Wijaya also denied the information that the death of his son had something to do with suspension of scholarship from the university.***
