ISTANBUL TO HOST SECOND FORUM OF UN ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS
Baku, March 31 (AzerTAc) The second Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations will be held in Istanbul, Turkey. The Forum promises to be the world`s premier event aimed at advancing intercultural understanding.
The two day event will feature the participation of Trukish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Government of Spain Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General`s High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, President Jorge Sampaio, and a host of other top-level political leaders.
The Forum seeks to address some of the ongoing tensions and divides across cultures and religions, and to examine some of the broader challenges of good governance of cultural diversity in an age of rapidly accelerating globalization.
It will convene a powerful network of global leaders, heads of international organizations, corporations, the media, civil society and youth groups, to forge partnerships aimed at building substantive interaction between diverse communities and strengthening trust and reconciliation across cultures.
Azerbaijan will be represented at the event by director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of ANAS, MP Govhar Bakhshaliyeva. She will deliver a report on “Modernization process in a globalizing world, opportunities, problems and prospects”.
She will brief the participants on the work done in Azerbaijan to strengthen dialogue between civilizations, protect tolerance, national and spiritual values.
