Latest LPGA champion breaks into top 10 in world rankings

SEOUL, May 7 (Yonhap) -- Kim Sei-young, the latest LPGA winner from South Korea, has cracked the top 10 in the women's world rankings. Kim jumped six spots to reach No. 9 in the rankings announced Tuesday (Korean time), her highest position since last October. Kim picked up her first victory of the year, and eighth of her career, at the LPGA Mediheal Championship in Daly City, just outside San Francisco, last weekend. Kim is one of four South Korean players in the top 10. Ko Jin-young stayed at No. 1 for the sixth consecutive week, while Park Sung-hyun and Park In-bee remained at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively. Former No. 1 Ryu So-yeon fell from No. 9 to No. 12, her lowest rank since October 2016. jeeho@yna.co.kr (END)
