AZERBAIJANI NATIONAL SABIR HABIBOV NAMED HONORARY DOCTOR OF RUSSIA

Baku, 31 March (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani national Sabir Habibov has been awarded the title of the “Honorary doctor of the Russian Federation” by President Dmitry Medvedev. The Presidential order says Habibov was honored “for his services in healthcare and years-long conscientious work”.
In a brief interview with an AzerTAc reporter, Habibov said “I am proud of being a representative of the Azerbaijani and Russian medical schools”.
“I have spent 35 years of my life to a noble mission of treating people. It is a great pleasure for me to have my years-long work be so highly recognized by the leadership of the Russian state.”
“I will continue to represent Azerbaijan with dignity and try to justify the title of the honorary doctor of the Russian federation” he said.
Habibov, a doctor of medicine and professor, is a member of the Russian Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences and the All-Russian society of endoscopic surgeons. He heads the department for reconstructive, plastic and endoscopic surgery at the Moscow city hospital 79.
Previously, Habibov was honored with the gold medal of the Russian Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences for his scientific merits, and an award of the Moscow government.
Sabir Habibov`s name is also included in the Famous people of Moscow 2007 book.
In 2000 Habibov conducted a first endoscopic transilluminated operation to remove varicose veins in Russia. Habibov attended masterclasses in different countries, including the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany, Sweden and Austria.
