POLICE: 14 STILL MISSING IN SITU GINTUNG DAM BURST



Jakarta, April 2 (ANTARA) - Jakarta Police said the number of people who had gone missing in the Situ Gintung dam burst had reached 14 and that of dead bodies found so far 100.

The data were collected from the police command post at Ahmad Dhalan Economic Institute in Ciputat, Tangerang, Banten Province, near the location of the dam which burst last week, Chryshnanda, a spokesman of the Jakarta Police, said here on Thursday.
"Police and Search and Rescue (SAR) Team will continue to look for the missing victims," he said.
The police also recorded that some 525 people were displaced due to the disaster, he said.
Of the total refugees, 74 people currently stayed at the campus of Muhammadiyah Jakarta University (UMJ)'s faculty of law, 71 at the UMJ's medical faculty campus, 204 at local residents' houses, and 176 at the local meeting hall, he said.
Two survivors were being hospitalized at Fatmawati hospital, he said. Some 319 houses were destroyed or damaged, he said.
Until now, 917 members of SAR team, consisting of 305 military personnel, 326 police officers and 236 volunteers, were still working at the disaster site and helping the survivors, he said.
