China vows to boost partnership with Russia amid foreign meddling attempts
BEIJING, November 20. /TASS/. Chinese authorities plan to step up strategic all-encompassing partnership with Russia amid attempts of certain states to meddle in Beijing’s domestic affairs, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said on Wednesday, commenting on growing instability on the international arena.
"In the future, we will vigorously strengthen all-encompassing strategic partnership with Russia on a constant basis and increase mutual support," the diplomat told a regular briefing. "China and Russia share joint interests in the sphere of protecting national sovereignty, maintaining social stability and preventing foreign meddling."
According to Geng, both sides certainly have all opportunities for countering aggressive steps of certain states and ensuring protection of national security and stability. "Of late, certain states have been resorting to one-sided measures, taking steps that can be described as the manifestation of hegemony. They continue crudely interfering in other countries’ domestic policies, creating many factors that destabilize international situation," he stressed.
China and Russia are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, "which can adopt effective measures and fulfill their historic mission on ensuring peace on the international arena and ensuring justice and order on the entire planet," the diplomat stressed.
The Chinese authorities plan to enhance contacts with Russia under the agreements reached between the two countries’ leaders, Geng said.
Earlier, China voiced strong protest after the US Senate passed "The Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act." Beijing dismissed it as blatant meddling in China’s domestic affairs, vowing to retaliate in order to protect its sovereignty, national security and key interests.
