AZERBAIJANIS LIVING IN GERMANY AND REPRESENTATIVES OF TURKISH DIASPORA ORGANIZATIONS PROTEST AGAINST REPORTS ON TURKISH-ARMENIAN BORDER OPENING

Baku, April 13 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijanis living in Germany and representatives of Turkish Diaspora organizations in this country sent an appeal to Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressing concern over recent media reports alleging that the Turkish-Armenian border will reopen.
The appeal says “in the wake of Armenia`s military aggression against Azerbaijan, the country`s Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding seven regions were occupied, with more than a million people driven out from their original lands by force. Turkey has been supporting Azerbaijan since the first days of the Armenia-Azerbaijan dispute. Cutting all relations with Armenia, Turkey repeatedly vowed that as long as the conflict is not resolved it is impossible for it to re-establish them.
Azerbaijan`s losing support of fraternal nation amid unresolved situation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict would lead to weakening of the country`s position and protraction of the dispute`s settlement.
They also appealed to the Turkish politicians, media representatives, public and cultural figures and others calling on them to protest against the opening of the borders.
