Infantino Praises Qatar's Organization of FIFA Club World Cup 2019
Doha, December 21 (QNA) - FIFA President Gianni Infantino has praised the excellent organization of FIFA Club World Cup 2019, which is being hosted by Qatar and will end with a final between Liverpool and Flamengo at the Khalifa International Stadium tomorrow.
Speaking to reporters, Infantino said: "I am very happy with what I have seen during the Club World Cup so far and with the stage of the preparations for 2022."
He added that the Club World Cup is an important test for a few of the elements that will be place at the World Cup, adding that the state of advancement of the works in Qatar is unparalleled.
He continued by saying: "The Club World Cup is an important test for a few of the elements that will be place at the World Cup, but the truth is that the level of readiness is there for all to see. I have been organizing big football tournaments for 20 years and I must say that the state of advancement of the works in Qatar is unparalleled - I have never seen a host country in the position to deliver every single infrastructure work two years prior to the event, which is what Qatar is on track to doing."
He added: "I am sure that it will be a fantastic event and I believe that a World Cup in Qatar, in the Middle East, will have the ability to change the perception of the rest of the world towards the region."
Infantino expressed his intention to make the new version of the FIFA Club World Cup the best competition in the world, pointing out that he wants an outstanding tournament in terms of performance on the field and also in terms of revenue.
The Club World Cup 2021 will be the first according to the new system, which includes staging it every four years with the participation of 24 teams, instead of the current formula that is held annually with the participation of seven teams - six continental champions and a team from the host nation.
The Club World Cup will replace the Confederations Cup, which was dedicated to the teams, and will be held in the year before the World Cup. (QNA)
