QTSBF Secretary General: Qatar ExxonMobil Open is Going Well

Doha, January 08 (QNA) - Secretary General of Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) Tareq Zainal said Thursday that the 2020 Qatar ExxonMobil Open is going well both in terms of high performance from participating players or in terms of high turnout and world-class media coverage. Zainal said, in a statement this evening, that the championship is going as planned amid good weather as usual every year, praising at the same time the great efforts made by the organizing committee to reach this global level. He added that the players who reached the quarter-finals made great performance and deserved to qualify. Despite the exit of French third seed Tsonga and Canadian fourth seed Raonic today, the quarter-finals will see the participation of Swiss first seed Wawrinka and the Russian second seed Rublev, he said. Zainal praised the great turnout, saying it is noticeable that the presence in the tournament is not limited to one category, but it is of all ages. He added that big tournaments in the world are concerned with the social, promotional and cultural aspects to attract the largest number of diverse audiences, and the organizers have been successful in this regard matter every year as the tournament was chosen as the best in the 250 category 3 times in 5 years.
