Institutions, Sports Associations Celebrate Qatar Sport Day

Doha, February 11 (QNA) - Several institutions, bodies, and sporting associations have organized various activities to celebrate Qatar Sport Day amid large participation from all segments of society, in implementation of the lofty goals of Amiri Decision No. 80 of 2011 to allocate a sport day for the country to urge and encourage employees and their families to participate in sporting activities with taking care to adhere to the standards and conditions stipulated in the Amiri Decision regarding Qatar Sport Day.
Qatar Football Association (QFA) organized various events to celebrate the Qatar Sport Day in cooperation with Shell Qatar through the Koura Time program, through a wonderful event held in the "Kindergarten of Peace" in the Al Mamoura region with the participation of a large number of kindergarten students and in the presence of QFA Coordinator of Social Responsibility Nabil Qayed.
The event aimed to promote the concepts of playing sports in general and football in particular, to be directed to the educational sector, especially schools, which comes within the framework of the QFA's interest in schools, and as an integral part of all societal programs organized by QFA in the local community based on its social responsibility strategy.
The QFA provided the necessary support for the success of the "Kindergarten of Peace".
Coaches from the Koora Time program supervised the event in cooperation with kindergarten teachers. The students played football and other sports.
Koora Time is an award-winning initiative designed to improve the health and wellbeing of young people in Qatar through football, the most popular sport in the country.
Koora Time is a community-based initiative that uses football as a platform to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among young Qataris, by facilitating access to more hours of physical activity and more opportunities and spaces to play.
It is worth mentioning that QFA has developed an ambitious plan in the field of community work with many institutions based on its 2021 vision.
The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) organized various sporting events at the beach of the Katara Cultural Village to celebrate Qatar Sport Day, in the presence of HE President of KAHRAMAA Eng Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, directors administrations, heads of departments, employees and their families, and several President of KAHRAMAA's guests of VIPs, corporate representatives, and the audience.
This event comes within the framework of the social responsibility of KAHRAMAA and as an expression of its commitment to contribute to advancing the health and welfare of its employees and society in general, to raise awareness of the importance of sport, ensure a permanent and regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
KAHRAMAA's celebration of the Sport Day included many sports and leisure activities suitable for different age groups, in an atmosphere of entertainment and fun, as the activities began with the KAHRAMAA Beach Volleyball Championship, in cooperation with the Qatar Volleyball Federation, and table tennis competitions in cooperation with the Qatar Table Tennis Federation.
KAHRAMAA events also witnessed a bicycle march in cooperation with the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation, with the participation of HE President of KAHRAMAA Eng Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, directors of affairs and administrations, heads of departments, and employees.
The Sport Day activities hosted a set of challenges with the participation of champions of Qatar Strongest Man competition, these include truck pulling, walking with heavyweights, giant wheel-tire flipping and other competitions.
Moreover, KAHRAMAA events witnessed the organization of competitive matches in many games, including beach football, basketball, and running, in addition to establishing a free zone to play several games.
KAHRAMAA has dedicated a special area for women that provided them with the privacy to play many sports and participate in events, as well as a special area for kids that included many games and fun activities for children to participate with their families, and encourage them to practice sports since childhood.
At the end of the activities, HE President of KAHRAMAA Eng Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari honored the winning teams in the various competitions and games organized by KAHRAMAA, in the presence of the officials of the Qatar Volleyball Federation and the Qatar Table Tennis Federation.
Vodafone used their role of being at the forefront of the digital era to engage the community on Qatar Sport Day 2020, in a host of digital sports activities that showcased ways technology and sports are being blended to revolutionize how people can exercise and play sports.
As the Platinum Sponsor of Qatar Foundation's National Sport Day event, for the third year in a row, Vodafone attracted thousands of people to its smart sports city located in Qatar Foundation's Ceremonial Court.
Vodafone teamed up with OX Fitness, one of the leading gyms in Qatar, to offer the country's first Virtual Reality (VR) workout. The VR boxing workout gave Ox Fitness members the chance to experience what the future of sports will look like. Another highlight was the Augmented Reality (AR) Dodge Ball game, the first-ever physical eSport that utilizes AR and VR. Both these activities were powered by Vodafone's GigaNet network, with its extremely fast speeds and ultra-low latency, which eliminate the lag often experienced in gaming with current technologies.
To make the day even more exciting for its employees, Vodafone ran an internal tournament to crown a winning team the AR dodgeball game champion.
Moreover, as a sponsor of Qatar Foundation's National Sport Day event, Vodafone handed out cash prizes to winners of the QF Obstacle Race, a large-scale 3km obstacle course spanning the length of Oxygen Park. Vodafone Qatar's brand ambassador, Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari, was on hand to celebrate with the winners and hand them their prizes.

Furthermore, the State Audit Bureau organized various sports activities on the occasion of the State's Sports Day, with the participation of HE President of the State Audit Bureau Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al-Thani amid wide participation of the Bureau employees.
Speaking on this occasion, HE President of the State Audit Bureau Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al-Thani underlined that the Qatar Sport Day reflects the great interest that the State of Qatar attaches under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to human health and building an active and productive society, capable of securing the present and future generations, indicating that the goal of devoting a sports day to the state is to consolidate the culture of playing sports as a daily behavior, to maintain a healthy lifestyle that benefits the individual and society.
The activities of the State Audit Bureau was held at "towers park" in Al Dafna and included the path of bicycles, in addition to several diverse sporting activities that suit different age groups and aim to spread awareness of the importance of sport in our daily life and exercise it regularly.
