Double honour for Bahrain’s horse-racing in Saudi Cup

Manama, Feb. 25 (BNA): Port Lions, owned by His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Affairs (SCYS) Chairman His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, today won the 2100-metre-long race for open category in the Saudi Cup, the richest horse race in the world
Dark Power, owned by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, won the second race.
HH Shaikh Nasser congratulated HH Shaikh Isa on the achievement of his horse Dark Power.
He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, attributing the landmark achievement to the outstanding royal care enjoyed by horse racing sport, and the equestrian port in particular, which represents an aspect of Bahrain’s longstanding heritage and forefathers’ legacy.
He said he was keen on participating in the Saudi international horse race in order to contribute to its success and support the maiden equestrian global event organized by Saudi Arabia and honour Bahrain as well.
“The outstanding result achieved by Port Lions in the race gives cause for optimism for more rewards in the upcoming races, continuing to win gold in the golden age and to honour Bahrain in the next races”, he said.
HH Shaikh Nasser thanked all the authorities in Saudi Arabia for the well-organized event, which, he said, contributed to the success of the global horse race.
HH Shaikh Isa expressed pride in the victory achieved by Dark Power in the second race.
He hailed Bahrain’s landmark regional and international achievements and paid tribute to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for the royal care for equestrian sports, which represent an authentic part of Bahrain’s longstanding history.
HH Shaikh Isa congratulated HH Shaikh Nasser on the victory of Port Lions, wishing him further achievements in in all sports.
He praised the outstanding organization of the maiden edition of the Saudi Cup, expressing thanks and appreciation to Saudi Arabia for the gracious hospitality and warm welcome of all participants.
