New Strain of Potato Produced in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 13 (KCNA) -- Researchers of the Institute of Agricultural Science in Ryanggang Province have succeeded in raising a new variety of potato which grows well in highlands. The new potato, highly resistant to diseases, is 1.2 times bigger than existing species in per-hectare yield. As it grows fast, it can be cultivated as the second crop even in the northern highlands. It is gaining favor of potato growers. -0-
