MOTHERS-TO-BE GIVEN OPTION ON MATERNITY LEAVE

KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 (Bernama) -- Mothers-to-be can now opt for a maximum of 14-day maternity leave prior to their due date.

However, this would be deducted from the 60-day leave that they are entitled
to.

The new ruling will come into effect from May 1, according to Public
Services Department service circular issued on April 20.

Normally the 60-day leave is calculated from the day they give birth but now
they are given an option to take an early leave, provided they obtain a letter
from government or private hospitals or clinics on their expected delivery date.

Heads of departments are expected to record this early leave in the
officer's records, according to the circular.
