Al Duhail Coach Seeks for Continental Title
Doha, September 14 (QNA) - Al Duhail coach Walid Regragui expressed his happiness for the return of the AFC Champions League matches ahead of his side match with Sharjah FC on Tuesday in the AFC Champions League.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Regragui said, "We are very happy with the return of the matches again, and we continued in the previous period our preparations for this important competition that is different from the league championship, which captures everyone's attention in order to crown with its title in the middle of the high spirits of our players."
Regragui added: "We suffer from absences, but the opportunity is there in order to involve alternative players that we have prepared them well in the previous period thanks to the matches we have played, which made most of the players ready for the Asian matches."
Regragui stated, "When you are preparing to enter major championships, losing matches is not desirable and not good, but what is important for us is to bypass this matter, and my job as a coach is to restore confidence to the team's players and remove them from any frustration they face and rehabilitate them in order to appear at the level required in all the matches, and now all our focus is on our confrontation against Sharjah and then we will turn to the next match, and certainly I completely trust the capabilities of the team's players in presenting distinctive levels."
Regragui continued, "The last period made me know the potential of the players well, and I know exactly what they possess and what they can help the team with, and now we are facing many challenges and despite the absences and injuries that haunt us, the current group can present what is required from it and defend the logo of the team as required."
Meanwhile, Asian top scorer Al Moez Ali confirmed his and his teammates' readiness for the Sharjah FC match in the third round of the group stage of the AFC Champions League.
Al Moez said, "We are ready for this important confrontation and it is certainly different participation from the matches we have played in the league, and our desire is the coronation with Asian championship, and we will continue working to reach the coronations podiums or the farthest point of this championship."
Al Moez added, "We will play these matches while we miss our fans and their presence in the stadium, but we know that we will find all moral and support because the matches will be held here in Doha, which will make us play with all strength in order to go far in the competition, especially in the light of the experience we have gained through our past participation and which we have succeeded to appear in it well and now our ambition is the podium."
