Generation Amazing, Qatar Foundation Launch Workshops for Coaches of Special Needs Children and Youth

Doha, September 21 (QNA) - The Generation Amazing Program (GA), in cooperation with Qatar Foundation (QF), announced the launch of a series of workshops for coaches specializing in training special needs children and youth in the State of Qatar. The inaugural workshop witnessed the participation of a number of Generation Amazing's coaches and a group of experts and specialists from the Paris Saint-Germain Academy, where the coaches learned how to use devices for people with special needs, and how to benefit from educational resources in workshops directed to them. The workshops will continue over the coming months. The next workshop is expected to take place in October. To ensure the inclusiveness of the program, Generation Amazing will update its curricula to include children and youth, while providing the necessary support to the coaches' various needs. Commenting on the launch of the series of workshops, Program Director for Generation Amazing Nasser Al Khoury expressed pleasure to return to the training field again after a period of suspension of field activities due to the emerging Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis, and the resumption of the program activities through this important awareness workshop which is concerned with people with special needs, in cooperation with Qatar Foundation. "In Generation Amazing, we are interested in continuing to expand the scope of the program and the base of its participants to include all groups and segments of the society of all abilities, while communicating with children and youth through our activities within the Football for Development program," Al Khoury said. The principle of inclusiveness is one of the basic values, Al Khoury said, expressing belief in the importance of giving children and youth the opportunity to acquire important life skills in good communication, leadership and teamwork by organizing interactive sports activities such as football, in a way that contributes to building and securing their future. For her part, Community Engagement Director at Qatar Foundation Amy Johnson said that values they believe in at Qatar Foundation are embodied in this training program that fits all capabilities, as it offers the opportunity to all and ensures inclusiveness and equal opportunities, expressing pleasure to present this program in partnership with Generation Amazing. "Our collective goal is to ensure that all members of society have access to high-quality sports programs that enable them to enjoy healthy lifestyles and interact with others, by providing coaches within Qatar and from the world with the skills needed to offers such opportunities. This program also helps creating new paths for people of all abilities to enjoy sports," she added. The workshop was co-led by Generation Amazing Master Coach Hamad Mohammed and Special Needs Football Specialist and Coach at QF Ryan Moignard. Regarding the workshop activities, Coach Hamad Mohamed said that all the coaches participated with great enthusiasm and learned how to use the equipment and assistance requirements necessary for people with disabilities in order to successfully provide comprehensive sessions, looking forward to hosting more workshops in the coming months. Last June, Generation Amazing and Qatar Foundation jointly organized a live session on its official Instagram account GA4Good on how to implement football activities for people with special needs, as part of its weekly online interactive sessions to help followers at home about keeping fit and preserving their health during the COVID-19 crisis. The Generation Amazing Program, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy's human and social legacy project, has reached 500,000 beneficiaries in Qatar and the world. It continues its journey with the aim to positively impact the lives of one million people by the time the first ball is kicked at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. (QNA)
