Al Duhail SC Secure Qatar Handball Cup

Doha, October 03 (QNA) - Al Duhail SC won Qatar Handball Cup for the 2019/2020 sports season after beating Al Wakrah 32/29 in the final match held today at Duhail Sports Hall. Al Duhail SC won the title for the second time in its history, while Al Wakrah failed to secure its first title. The Secretary General of the Qatar Handball Association (QHA), Mohamed Jaber Al Mulla, handed over the Qatar Handball Cup to Al Duhail captain Ahmed Maddi. Al Duhail SC deserved to win, as the club performed well and was the best, especially in the first half in which the club imposed superiority and ended it in its favor with a difference of six goals by 9/15, and despite the improvement in Al Wakrah's performance in the second half and narrowing the difference to two goals, Al Duhail succeeded in consolidating its progress again and decisively win Qatar Handball Cup for the second time in its history. Al Duhail made it to the final after beating title holders Al Sadd in the semifinal round with a score of 27-21 on Sept. 28. They defeated Al Ahli in a thrilling quarter-final (32-31) after a penalty shoot-out at the end of full time, which was both teams level at 28. Meanwhile, Al Wakrah qualified for their second final since 2005 after defeating Al Arabi 28-27 in another blockbuster semifinal. They reached the last four with a 19-15 win over Qatar SC. Al Sadd won the last year's title after defeating Al Gharafa with a score of 22-20 in the final. (QNA)
