ONE KILLED IN ELEPHANT ATTACK

Bandarlampung, April 27 (ANTARA) - Two wild elephants ran amuck and killed a local resident, Punirah (70), in Sukohardjo I hamlet, Belimbing Bengkunat village, in West Lampung district, Lampung early on Saturday, a nature conservation official said on Monday.

Head of the Buki Barisan Selatan National Park (TNBSS), Kurnia Rauf, said that the wild elephants ran amok after they were left by their herd and strayed into human settlement.

He said the elephant herd was migrating from the national park to other places during the current transitional season.

Local residents were trying to drive away the two elephants but they ran amuck and killed Punirah.***3***
