GCC Health Ministers' emergency meeting adopts measures to combat Swine Flu
Doha - Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) Member States and Yemen began their emergency meeting in Doha Saturday to discuss urgent preventive precautionary measures to fight Swine Flu.
UAE Health Minister Humaid Al Qattami, who headed the UAE delegation to the Doha meeting, said that it has been agreed in the meeting to set up a Unified Gulf Strategy to be effective next week to combat Swine Flu. The ministers examined in the meeting the available strategic reserve of vaccines. The participants are to work out with a Gulf strategy to fight such a disease and revitalize the role of the liaison officers and preparedness of the central Gulf labs to diagnose and isolate the swine flu virus and the role of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in this respect. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
