Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs receives Australian guest

(KPL) Mr. Phongsavat Boupha, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs received at his office in Vientiane a courtesy visit of Australia’s Parliamentary Secretary for International Development Assistance, Bob McMullan who came here to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the opening of the Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge across the Mekong River.
At the talk, Mr. Phongsavat Boupha praised and highly valued the visit to Laos of Mr McMullan as a big contributions to further strengthen the friendship relation and co-operation between Laos and Australia
Today, the assistance from Australia for the Lao PDR is aimed to promote the access to education, support the economic development and reduce the impacts from natural disaster and UXO clearing for poorest communities. The first Laos-Thailand Friendship Bridge is one of assistant project from Australia.
Australian government has also provided 40 scholarships a year worth 4.2 million dollar to Laos.
