MALAYSIA, KEY TO AUSTRALIA NETWORK'S EXPANSION IN SEA
KUALA LUMPUR, MAY 7 (BERNAMA) -- Australia Network, Australia's
international television and online services, has chosen Malaysia as key to its
expansion plans in Southeast Asia.
Its Director of Sales and Marketing in Southeast Asia Nigel Cummings said
today that Southeast Asia was an important region and growing its brand
regionally and acquiring great content was vital to Australia Network being
accepted as the preferred channel for discerning "internationalists".
Australia Network currently broadcast in Astro's channnel 521 and through
its multi-genre, high quality programming, viewers could choose to broaden their
perspective of the world from the comfort of their living room, he said.
"Programmes such as 'Travel Oz' and 'The Great Outdoors' take viewers on
journeys to exotic destinations, while those wanting to savour the best of
Australian cuisine can enjoy the delights of 'Mecurio's Menu' or 'Outback Cafe'.
"To nourish the minds of young viewers, programmes like 'Bananas in
Pyjamas', 'The Wiggles' and 'Playschool' are perfect fodder, while provoking
documentaries from Australia and around the world offer insights to some
mysteries and wonders of the global society, he said in a statement here.
Cummings also said that those seeking to improve their English language
skills could tune to the unique learning programmes suitable for students of all
levels.
He said that as part of refreshed banding initiatives, viewers could also
enjoy new and exclusive high-quality programmes such as "Australia's Best
Backyard" and "Great Australian Homes".
In showcasing its brand to Malaysian viewers, Cummings said Australian
Network was wrapping a Rapid-KL bus with eye-catching visuals featuring an
iconic Australian image and highlights of its programme content.
"The bus will ply the route B103 Titiwangsa-Bukit Bintang-KLCC-Titiwangsa
and will be in full public view from now until end of this month," he added.
