Hamdan orders 100,000 capsules of Tamiflu to MoH

Abu Dhabi, May 11, 2009 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Committee on Emergency Response to Bird Flu, has instructed delivery of 100,000 capsules of TAMIFLU (oseltamivir phosphate) for flu treatment to inventories of the Ministry of Health. “All potentials and energies are mobilised to keep the swine flu at bay,” he affirmed.
Sheikh Hamdan said that the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi - has been tasked with coordinating with the Ministry of Health to secure the required quantities of the medicine so as to replenish the ministry's stock. He praised steps being taken by the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) to pool efforts of ministries and other bodies to face the swine flu. The UAE has introduced precautionary measures in coordination with specialised international organisations to prevent the swine flu from entering the country.
