M'SIAN PM PAYS TRIBUTE TO MUMS IN CONJUNCTION WITH MOTHER'S DAY

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak paid tribute to
Malaysian mothers for their love, guidance, support and direction for their
children.

In his message posted in his blog www.1malaysia.com.my Saturday night in
conjunction with Mother's Day which falls Friday, he said nothing could
compare with the purity of a mother's love.

"Mother's Day is the day we pay tribute to these very special women who had
brought us into this world and have been instrumental for our success."

In expressing gratitude and love for his own mother Rahah Mohd Noah,
Najib said: "I remember the guidance and supportive presence of my beloved
mother while growing up as the eldest of five sons.

"Perhaps I was too young then to fully understand the responsibilities my
mother were shouldering as the wife of a prime minister (Abdul Razak
Hussein).

"Even at my age today, I doubt I can fully understand her largesse and
patience. I admire and am humbled by her grace and poise, her generosity and
kindness, and her wisdom and intuition throughout the years.

"It is our mothers who enable us to fulfil our potential and the promise of
our arrival, and to walk the path that destiny has provided."

Najib said he would not have become what he is today if not for his mother's
undying support and love for him.

"We should recognise the importance of our origins and the roles that
commitment and loyalty play in our lives.

"Malaysia has provided generations the support and opportunities to become
self-reliant and successful.

"As we strive together to create 1Malaysia by fulfilling the potential of
our country, we should return to that spirit of giving and sharing," he said.
