Bakashova discusses with head of UN office interaction in fight against COVID-19

Bishkek, June 25, 2021. / Kabar /. Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Zhyldyz Bakashova met with Resident Coordinator of the UN system in the Kyrgyz Republic Ozonnia Ozhielo, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The meeting was also attended by UNICEF Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Christine Zholm, Representative of the World Health Organization in the Kyrgyz Republic Nazira Artykova, Representative of the UN World Food Program in the Kyrgyz Republic Andrea Bagnoli, UN Women Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Ulzisuren Zhamsran.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on issues of interaction in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection and support for the republic's health care system.
Zhyldyz Bakashova noted the difficult epidemiological situation in the country, stressing the need to increase the rate of vaccination of the population.
“Today the issue of accelerating the process of vaccination of the country's population is acute. These issues are a priority for the country's leadership. The number of citizens of the country in need of vaccination is almost 3.2 million people. Of these, 2.6 million people are the highest priority group. Accordingly, we need 6.4 million doses of vaccines or at least 5.2 million doses. In countering the spread of coronavirus infection in the Kyrgyz Republic, it is especially important to effectively coordinate efforts with development partners, especially on vaccines and health system support,” she said.
The deputy chairwoman of the Cabinet also touched upon the importance of accelerating the implementation of the e-health system, creating a national database on medicines and medical devices, as well as a unified register of citizens who have had a coronavirus infection; support of the work of the service 118, determining in the regions, in the cities of Bishkek and Osh, health organizations for the treatment of pregnant women with coronavirus.
Ozonnia Ozhielo noted that in order to counter the current wave of the pandemic, vaccination of the country's population and strict observance of anti-epidemiological measures by the society is necessary. According to him, based on the results of studying the experience of other countries, about 70% of the population vaccinated against COVID-19 restored the economy and stability in the country much faster as a result of the pandemic.
Representatives of the UN system stressed their readiness to provide support to the republic. An agreement was reached that the UN system in a short time will provide assistance in the implementation of projects to combat the pandemic in the Kyrgyz Republic.
