TIMBER FACTORY OWNER FOUND GUILTY OF HARBOURING ILLEGALS
KUALA KRAI (Malaysia), May 12 (Bernama) -- A timber factory owner was found
guilty by the Magistrate's Court in this town in northeast state of Kelantan
Tuesday of habouring eight illegal immigrants.
Yee Fook Shin, 58, who owns Kayu Getah Delta Saga Sdn Bhd, was convicted of
harbouring four Indonesians and four Thais, aged between 18 and 32, at the
factory at 2.45pm on May 17, 2005.
Magistrate Mohd Firdaus Ramlan fixed next Monday for sentencing.
The charge under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 is
punishable under Section 56(1)(bb) with a maximum fine of RM400,000, five years
in jail and six strokes of the rotan.
Yee, represented by lawyer Abdul Aziz Derashid, was allowed bail of RM10,000
with one surety. (US$1=RM3.51)
