Al-Sharq Praises Qatar's Continued Keenness to Support Brotherly Afghan People

Doha, August 24 (QNA) - Al-Sharq newspaper praised in its editorial Tuesday the urgent Qatari humanitarian interventions carried out by Doha on several levels in Afghanistan, which comes as a translation of Qatar's continued keenness to support and protect the brotherly Afghan people against the severe ordeal they are going through.
The newspaper said that this support stems from authentic Qatari values that the whole world and the brotherly Islamic peoples that have been plagued by unrest and tensions know about the Qatari people, adding that securing civilians in Afghanistan and their safety remain an original goal of the State of Qatar and a title of its diplomatic moves, which are supported by the Air Force through its evacuation operations of thousands of civilians, as Doha will secure their temporary residence in Doha before returning to their countries or to other places.
Al-Sharq indicated that the Qatari diplomacy is racing against time to prevent the Afghan scene from worsening by reaching the predetermined time period for the withdrawal of the US forces from Afghanistan before Aug. 31, explaining that this matter calls for intensive contacts conducted by Doha at all levels to ensure a peaceful transfer of power in Afghanistan on one hand and to secure civilians, whether the Afghan people or citizens of other countries residing in Afghanistan, as well as to achieve Afghan reconciliation between the various parties at a time when tensions are escalating between the Taliban and other components in the complex Afghan scene.
The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that the human dimension remains the compass from which the State of Qatar embarks on its interventions in Afghanistan, and as HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani emphasized that Qatar will remain that neutral mediator throughout this process, and maintain contact with all parties to support the various foreign nationals living in Afghanistan.
