TWO QUAKES HIT SULAWESI

Bengkulu, May 14 (ANTARA) - Two tectonic quakes with strong magnitude were reported to have happened at 23:00 West Indonesia Standard Time (WIB) in Sulawesi on Thursday.

Information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Bengkulu on Thursday said the first quake struck tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, at about 11:51 WIB with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter of the quake was about 0.91 degree North Latitude and 120.07 degrees East Longitude in a depth of 84 km Southwest of Tolitoli.

The second quake measuring 5.3 on the Richer scale struck Bitung, North Sulawesi province, at 16:24:53 WIB.

According to the BMKG, the epicenter was located in a depth of 15 km at coordinate 0.26 degree South Lattitude and 125 degrees East longitude.
