Al-Watan Highlights Qatar's Great, Effective Role in Supporting Peace, Stability in Afghanistan

Doha, August 26 (QNA) - In its editorial on Thursday, Al-Watan commended the great and effective role played by the State of Qatar in promoting dialogue between the Taliban and the rest of the Afghan parties, in order to reach a comprehensive and peaceful transfer of power in Afghanistan. In this regard, the newspaper highlighted the great humanitarian role that Qatar also plays through evacuation operations, based on its good relations with everyone, and its policies based on strengthening international peace and security. Al-Watan pointed out the praise of many parties and international leaders for the role of the State of Qatar in supporting the Afghan issue, including the praise of US President Joe Biden, in which he thanked the State of Qatar for the effective support it provided through the evacuation of thousands from Afghanistan, and his assertion that the airlift would not have been possible without the early support of Qatar. The paper also noted what was expressed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in addition to a number of leaders, who unanimously agreed on Qatar's great role in calming and enabling effective evacuations. Furthermore, the paper cited the American media's praise for the State of Qatar's role in supporting the brothers in Afghanistan in their efforts to consolidate peace and stability, including Fox News, which praised the State of Qatar's role and influence in the region in calming the situation in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and assisting with evacuations, in addition to what The New York Times revealed a few days ago about the evacuation of a group of American journalists in Afghanistan, which was supported and backed by Qatar. In conclusion, the newspaper stressed that the State of Qatar will continue its estimated efforts to consolidate peace and security in Afghanistan, in order to reach a comprehensive and peaceful transfer of power, with the participation of all Afghan parties.
