Seminar to promote trade and private business sector held

(KPL) The ministry of industry and commerce organized on 20 May a second meeting on trade and private development sub-group (TPDSG) to discuss integrated framework and trade sector improvements relating to Asean and WTO.
The function jointly chaired by Ms. Khemmani Pholsena, Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce and Dr. Michele Foster, Ambassador of Australia to Laos aimed to report of the achievements of the Integrated Framework, trade sector improvements relating to Asean and WTO, accords made under the Asean Free Trade Agreement and the SMEs and industry strategy development plans, as well as to discuss and approve draft terms of reference for activities to be undertaken by TPDSG.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Khemmany said that last year the ministry of industry and commerce made some important strides with respect to the implementation of its trade and private sector reform agenda involving landmark laws, decrees and regulations. The ministry has also made significant progress with respect to meeting regional commitments made in 2008 relating to the establishment of AFTA.
Among the guest at the meeting were SMEPDO Director General Somdy Inmisay, Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Kissana Vongsay and other representatives of business community.
