Iraq Calls For Adherence To Diplomatic Methods To Resolve The Tension Between Russia and Ukraine

Baghdad / NINA / - Iraq called to adhere to diplomatic methods to resolve the tension between Russia and Ukraine. The ministry said in a statement that "the acting head of the Europe department, Plenipotentiary Minister Tariq Adel Al-Shaher, met today with the Chargé d'Affairs of the Ukrainian Embassy in Baghdad Alexander Buravzhnikov." Al-Shaher stressed, "the importance of continuing to hold meetings on political consultations scheduled to take place during the first quarter of 2022 between Iraq and Ukraine," noting that "Iraq's position calls for respecting the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and distancing themselves from differences and disputes, whether between Ukraine and Russia or between other countries, through Iraq's commitment to a neutral position on the conflict between states. He stressed, "the activation of the meetings of the Iraqi-Ukrainian joint committee in its fifth session during the first half of this year, and the need to encourage bilateral visits by officials in both countries, in a way that contributes to strengthening bilateral relations in various fields." For his part, Buravzhnikov reviewed the internal developments in his country, noting "the efforts of the Ukrainian government to act on the international community regarding the severe tensions with Russia and the prospects of war with it."
