The Peninsula Hails Civil Defense's Efforts to Preserve Lives, Property

Doha, March 02 (QNA) - English-language newspaper The Peninsula highlighted, in its editorial on Wednesday, Qatar's celebration of the International Civil Defense Day, which falls on Mar. 1 of every year, under the slogan "Human Safety is Building Development." In this regard, the newspaper noted the great efforts made by the Civil Defense in order to preserve lives and property through its mechanisms and human, technical and material capabilities, adding that these efforts will reflect positively on both families and individuals and contribute to the upbringing of future generations capable of bearing sufficient awareness of all risks and how to avoid, prevent and deal with them if they occur. The Peninsula indicated that Qatars civil defense have undergone very rigorous training to make them capable of meeting any kind of situation whether it is a fire or any other emergency. The paper added that the department, under the Ministry of Interior, is also tasked with ensuring the safety of every structure in the country through conducting fitness inspections and giving clearance before the use of different buildings and facilities such as houses, commercial buildings, markets, stadiums, hospitals and other buildings. Concluding, the Peninsula affirmed that ensuring a disaster-free, peaceful daily life is a personal duty of every individual, and not the responsibility of civil defense alone, noting that Qatars stringent regulations and constant monitoring by the authorities play a key role in guaranteeing us a peaceful day every day.
