President receives credentials from new ambassadors of friendly countries

(KPL) The President Choummaly Sayasone yesterday received at the Presidential Office the letter of credentials from ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Timor- Leste to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Mr. Joao Freitas de Camara, the new ambassador of the Greece to Laos, Mr. Nikolaos VAMVOUNAKIS and the new ambassador of Tanzania to Laos, Mr. Abdulcisco O.Mtrio.
Discussing with the three ambassadors, the Lao President significantly valued the diplomatic relations between Laos and Timor-Leste, and between Laos and the Greece and between Laos and Tanzania. President Choummaly said that the ambassadorial appointment was yet another milestone for the increasing relations between the three countries. It would lay foundation for other types of co-operation.
On this occasion, the three ambassadors expressed thanks to President Choummaly Sayasone for his warm welcome and confirmed that they would do their utmost to further strengthen the relation and co-operation between their respective countries and Laos.Laos and Timor-Leste established diplomatic relation on 29 July, 2002. Laos and Greece established diplomatic relation on 15 June, 1989, while Laos and Tanzania established diplomatic ties on 15 May, 1978.
The Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Timor – Leste and Greece to the Lao PDR, has their residence in Bangkok, Thailand, while the ambassador of Tanzania has his residence in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The new ambassador of Timor-Leste on the same day also paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Thongsing Thammavong, President of the National Assembly and Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh, Prime Minister of Laos.
