NIHR: 2022 parliamentary and municipal elections marked by transparency and integrity

Manama, Nov.12 (BNA): The National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) took part, in its capacity as an independent body, in monitoring the 2022 parliamentary and municipal elections, which were held today. In a statement, it announced that the electoral process was characterized by transparency and integrity in terms of the procedures followed in sub-committees or national ones. The statement was based on the initial report of the monitoring team, which consisted of members of NIHR Board of Commissioners and a number of employees of the General Secretariat. The NIHR statement affirmed that the electoral process was well organized and contributed to facilitating procedures for citizens to cast their votes smoothly. It said that a few minor observations which did not affect the elections were noticed, noting that they were corrected in accordance with law upon informing the competent authorities. The institution said that these observations will be included along with the recommendations in a special report which will be issued and published later and which will be available to all.
