London passenger tests positive for H1N1 flu in Goa
Panaji, Jun 11 (PTI) One of the two suspected swine flu
patients, who arrived here from abroad on Thursday morning,
has tested positive for the virus, health authorities said.
"The passenger who travelled from London to Goa via
Germany has tested positive for the disease," state Health
Secretary Sanjiv Srivastava told PTI.
The male passenger, who came from London via Germany has
been quarantined at PHC Chicalim, a few kilometres away from
the airport.
Tests on the 21-year-old woman, who arrived from Sharjah
and was admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, are
currently under way, Shrivastava added.
The health officials said the swine flu patient from Goa
is a resident of Margao, 30 km away from Panaji.
Meanwhile, the health officials here have sent the blood
samples of both the patients to National Institute of Virology
at Pune for further tests.
Director of Health Service Rajananda Desai said the state
government will issue a formal statement and details of the
patients later in the day.
After the swine flu scare across the globe, the state
health department had commissioned a team of doctors at Goa
